Refurbishing Old Tanks With Paint

I've accumulated a ridiculous amount of tank tops over the past couple years. I have a hard time getting rid of clothes, because I'm always trying to think of ways to re-vamp them or turn them into something cooler. Re-designing a tank or t-shirt with painted prints is really easy. Here's what you'll need:
Image
  • An old tank top (preferably one that you don't wear often and don't mind painting on)
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Fabric scissors (optional)
  • Some newspaper
  • Cardboard
Start off by laying newspaper on the ground. Lay your shirt over top of it. Insert a big piece of cardboard inside your shirt (where your body would normally go) - this is to prevent paint from seeping through the fabric and the back and front of the shirt getting stuck to each other.

Next, choose your print or design. I chose to do white zig zags. Paint away! Try to make sure the paint isn't too thickly lathered on. You can water the paint down a little using water if you like but only use a little bit.
I only did the front side of my shirt. If you're going to do both, make sure the first side is COMPLETELY dry! I would say to let it dry overnight. If you're going to cut it like I did make sure it's completely dry as well.

And there you have it! It's as simple as that. The possibilities are endless.
